Of Brutality and Grace (OBAG) is the brainchild of guitarists Luke Brown and Fouad El-Zarka. As college buddies, they would often trade musical ideas off eachother while in different bands. The results of these cooperations resulted in the idea of forming a band that would play metal that would be intensely heavy but also be very melodic. The band's namesake is its sound. Heavy but melodic, brutal but graceful. After going through several lineups trying to find the right blend, Ali (known as "Iron Ali" on stage) was the bassist in Fouad's previous band and was immediately recruited. Josh, an old friend of Luke's was also recruited. The band recorded a 3-track demo together entitled "The Three of Swords- Songs of Madness and Obsession" in 2007 which included a 2004 demo of "What We Call Hope", a track recorded as an idea by Fouad. OBAG is currently working on recording their yet-to-be-titled album. At live shows, OBAG are known for their energetic performances and twin guitar harmonized solos.
